The American AI Exports Program is an export promotion program, not an export control. Where the designation clock stands: decisions due by about September 21, 2026

The program committed itself to two review clocks in the Federal Register: a completeness check within 14 business days of receipt, then a designation decision within 60 calendar days. Run that math from the June 30 deadline and every decision is due by roughly September 21. Rolling announcements before then are likely, since there's no cap on designations.

What a designated package must contain

Every consortium delivers the full stack, hardware through applications. For each layer, the highest-value provider must be a consortium member, the anchor member must be a U.S. company, and at least 51 percent of the hardware layer's value must be U.S. content.
